INTRODUCTION
In these Terms and Conditions ‘our’, ‘we’ or ‘us’ mean London Writers Centre and londonwriterscentre.org.uk as defined below and operated by Spread the Word trading as London Writers Centre (Company Number: 03541037, Registered Charity Number: 1088890) and ‘you’ and ‘your’ mean the individual engaging with us (acting in their own personal capacity, or as an organisation as the context requires).
By accessing or using londonwriterscentre.org.uk, or by registering to use it, and by engaging with London Writers Centre, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms and Conditions. We may alter these terms and conditions from time to time and post the new version on our website, following which all use of our website will be governed by that version. We will do our best to notify you in advance of the changes.
By agreeing to our Terms and Conditions when you sign up to londonwriterscentre.org.uk, you are verifying that you are over 18 years old.

Nature of our website and work
This website, londonwriterscentre.org.uk (London Writers Centre) is the online presence of the charity Spread the Word operating as London Writers Centre. Our mission is to help underrepresented writers reach readers, and work with communities to find and share stories.. London Writers Centre runs programmes of activity to support, develop and advocate for writers.
Registration
In order to book an event or participate in any other manner on londonwriterscentre.org.uk you must register with us. You agree to: a) provide and maintain accurate, current and complete information about you as may be prompted by any registration forms on the website; b) maintain the security of your password and c) register with a valid email address.
We are not obliged to register any person or entity and we reserve the right to decline to register any person or entity.
You are solely responsible in all respects for all use of and for protecting the confidentiality of your email verification and password for use on our website. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of them or any other breach of security regarding our website that comes to your attention.
Content and Copyright
London Writers Centre content is owned by us or our licensors and all rights are reserved. Without prejudice to any other rights or remedies to which we may be entitled, any use of London Writers Centre Content otherwise than in accordance with these Terms and Conditions entitles us to cancel your account.
Except where otherwise specified, all material on this Website may be used for non-commercial purposes, provided you credit ‘London Writers Centre’.

The information contained within the website and on printed and social media is correct at time of going to publication. London Writers Centre reserves the right to make alterations where necessary.
DATA PROTECTION AND PRIVACY
As part of your use of londonwriterscentre.org.uk and your engagement with the organisation, you will be giving us personal information such as your name and email address. We are very careful in how we use and process this data.
London Writers Centre will collect, use, store and disclose your personal details in accordance with current Data Protection legislation. We will only use your personal information in connection with our own activities and will not pass on your details to third parties without your prior permission.

BOOKINGS
Our pricing policy
We know that there are often financial barriers that can prevent people from engaging with literary events and courses.
London Writers Centre is committed to offering our programme of high quality workshops, masterclasses, courses and events at a low cost to ensure our offer is accessible.
For paid for events, workshops, masterclasses and courses, bursary places will be made available for people in the following categories:
- Full-time students;
- Senior citizens (aged 65 and over);
- People aged 30 and under;
- Carers
- Single parents
- Care leavers
- Experience of being homeless
- Ex-offenders
- Unemployed
- On a low income either on benefits (claiming Universal Credit, disability benefits, in receipt of working tax credits, income support or job seekers allowance) or earning on or below the London Living Wage, and whose savings do not exceed the amount needed to pay for three months of living costs (rent, gas and electricity, food etc.)
If this applies to you please email hello@londonwriterscentre.org.uk to confirm a bursary place. Proof of eligibility may be requested.
Terms of Payment
All tickets must be paid for in full at the time of booking. No places may be reserved without being paid for and no booking shall be considered as confirmed until full payment is received. We accept bookings by credit or debit card.
If you are unable to pay in full, we can in some circumstances accept instalments. Please contact us on hello@londonwriterscentre.org.uk to discuss.
Cancellations and alterations
Each event, workshop, masterclass or course needs a minimum number of participants in order to run. We make the decision about whether we are going to run each activity approximately two weeks before it starts or happens. If we have to cancel a workshop due to minimum numbers not being met, a full refund, event transfer or credit note will be offered. If you are intending to book on to an event, workshop, masterclass or course, please make sure you do so in plenty of time, to help us avoid unnecessary cancellations.
All tickets are sold subject to London Writers Centres right to make any alterations to the artists, tutors, venues, times, dates or other arrangements which are rendered necessary by a cause outside of London Writers Centre’s reasonable control. Please note that where we have to make alterations, you do not have additional rights of cancellation, and our standard terms still apply.
Refunds
Paid for tickets can be refunded up to two weeks (14 days) after the point of payment. Outside of this term and condition, tickets will only be refunded where an event has been cancelled or rescheduled. Where monies are refunded, such refunds are limited to the face value of the tickets purchased.
Comments and complaints
While London Writers Centre makes every effort to maintain high standards and provide high-quality experiences for all writers, participants and attendees, you may want to offer comments or make a complaint.
At the end of every workshop, masterclass, course and event you will be given the opportunity to provide feedback through our evaluation form, but if you feel this is not sufficient, you may wish to make a formal complaint.

EVENTS & WORKSHOPS
Access
If you require reasonable adjustments to attend an event, workshop, masterclass or course either in person or online, please contact us at hello@londonwriterscentre.org.uk at least 14 days in advance of the start date of the (first) session.
London Writers Centre will cover the cost of any reasonable adjustment. This includes offering a free place for an assistant and/or carer.
The Centre will endeavour to send any reading at least 7 days in advance of an event, workshop, masterclass or course.
The Centre will endeavour to send any slides or presentations after the session has taken place, however this is dependent upon the agreement we have with the tutor/ facilitator/ speaker.

Changes to the advertised activities
All our programme details are correct at the time of publishing. We will inform attendees of any changes to the advertised programme as necessary. Writing workshops, masterclasses, courses and events are dynamic activities, and as such, advertised content may occasionally be adapted to take account of the needs of the participants.
We will list changes on the website and contact participants with details of any changes to their booked activities. It is a participant’s responsibility to confirm that they have the correct details of a booked activity before it begins.
Conduct
London Writers Centre exists to support and nurture writers and writing communities. It strongly believes in both freedom of expression, and respect for each other’s differences.
London Writers Centre commits to:
- Honouring and practising respect for each other’s differences;
- Creating safe spaces that nurture writers’ growth and development;
- Cooperation with each other.
These are the terms of London Writers Centre’s code of conduct. Participants in London Writers Centre’s events, programmes are asked to respect and honour the code of conduct. If, in the opinion of London Writers Centre or the event facilitator or leader, or a participant is behaving abusively, disrespectfully or in a discriminatory fashion, London Writers Centre reserves the right to exclude the participant from its current and subsequent activities, with no fee refunds made.
Recording our events
London Writers Centre or any permitted third parties may carry out general filming, photography and sound recording before during and after an event, to be used in our marketing and fundraising activities. By purchasing tickets you consent to you and your party being included in such films and recordings without payment. Any such recording or filming activity will be clearly signposted during the event. Participants are welcome to tell us if they would prefer not to be filmed or recorded. Permissions will be sought from parents/ carers for recording of children, young people under the age of 18 and vulnerable adults.
London Writers Centre does not permit participants to record events either in person or online without prior permission.
For online events, recording is made on an event-by-event basis. Please contact us at hello@londonwriterscentre.org.uk if you would like to know if an online event is being recorded. If you require an event to be recorded for access purposes, please contact us.
Programme age guidance
Booking services with London Writers Centre’s general programme is only available to persons who are at least 18 years of age unless the activity or event is clearly specified otherwise. By completing a booking you warrant and confirm to the London Writers Centre that you comply with those arrangements.
English law
The terms and conditions between you and Spread the Word trading as London Writers Centre are governed by English law.
