Nature Nurtures was led by London Wildlife Trust in partnership with us at Spread the Word, Black Girls Hike CIC and London Youth. The project hosted free opportunities for young people aged 16 – 25 from communities underrepresented in the nature conservation sector that link natural heritage with creative arts to get more young people volunteering and taking action for nature. Nature Nurtures offered young people the opportunity to explore themes of wellbeing, identity & cultural heritage within the environmental sector.
With these partners, we collaborated to offer amazing free opportunities for 16 – 25 year old Londoners to explore and develop practical conservation and creative skills. Nature Nurtures’ aim was to work with London’s youth to create a friendly community who want to explore nature conservation, social action and the creative arts. Whether you’re a nature novice, hiking enthusiast, or have never even flexed a creative muscle – Nature Nurtures was open to those who wanted to give it a go.
Young people were also invited to contribute to two professionally published anthologies and short films that were made over the course of the project. You can read the latest anthology and watch the short films inspired by and drawing on poems written by some young writers below.
