Through her workshop, Dominique will not only teach you how to write a script, but also comic page composition, storyboarding, and the importance of reading flow.
Drawing is not a requirement for the workshop, even for the sections on composition and storyboarding. Comics is a medium inescapably tied to the visual, but this is a workshop focused primarily on practical skills for improving your comic script writing.
What will you do in the workshop?
Dominique will give a presentation on comic-writing techniques, using her own and other artists’ work as examples (e.g. Emma Rios). The eventual aim of the workshop is for participants to write their own comic script.
What can participants expect?
At the end of the workshop, participants will write a one-page comic script applying their newfound knowledge. They’re also encouraged (but not required) to produce a rough storyboard for it. Brainstorming script ideas before the workshop is recommended.
Who is this opportunity for?
Beginner to intermediate-level comic creators and writers who want to learn how to improve their comic-writing craft and comic page compositions.
