Are you writing a fiction novel for adults but are unsure how to classify your project? Do you think you’re literary but would really love to be commercial? Join Jenny Hewson and Anna Boyce from Lutyens & Rubinstein for their Crossover Fiction 101.

Lutyens & Rubinstein is a literary agency founded in 1993 with a broad focus including fiction, non-fiction, cookery, children’s, YA and illustrated. In this seminar literary agents Jenny Hewson and Anna Boyce will give short talks on crossover fiction and their insights into the publishing market. There will also be the opportunity to ask questions.

The seminar will also launch a 1-2-1 feedback opportunity with up to 8 writers receiving feedback from Jenny Hewson and Anna Boyce.

Jenny Hewson

Jenny Hewson

Jenny Hewson joined Lutyens and Rubinstein in 2019, moving across from Rogers, Coleridge & White where she started out as an agent in 2010. She represents a wide range of award winning and bestselling authors from around the world, including Sarah Perry, Melissa Harrison, Christos Tsiolkas, Paul Fischer, Ishi Robinson, Viktoria Lloyd Barlow and Clare Reader Collins amongst others. Writers she works with have won or been nominated for the Booker Prize, the Folio Prize, the Women’s Prize, the Costa Novel Award, the Wainwright Prize, the Dylan Thomas Prize, the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award, the British Book of the Year Award, the Giller Prize, the Miles Franklin Literary Award, and the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize:

Anna Boyce

Anna Boyce joined Lutyens and Rubinstein in 2022 after two years working as a bookseller and has recently begun to build her own list of authors at L&R:

“The most important things for me are a strong sense of place, convincing characters and confident, immersive writing. I am looking for contemporary fiction that explores the complexities of modern relationships and actively engages with ideas and the world around us. I am equally keen to find literary fiction with an unusual hook that surprises and delights me, whether that be through speculative elements or unexpected characters and settings.”
