London Writers Centre is a charity and Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. We rely on funding, the support of our partners and generous donors to carry out our work.

Our vision is a world in which literature is accessible to everyone.

Where everyone has an equal chance to become a writer, regardless of background, finances or connections. Where everyone can read stories that reflect their experiences and has the opportunity to tell their own.

London Writers Centre is a charity, supported by Arts Council England, working to make literature accessible to everyone. Every gift you give helps to make that possible.

How we will spend your donation

Donations enable us to:

  • Keep our writer development programmes free,
  • Run free workshops for aspiring writers and young people from local communities in Lewisham,
  • Offer our events programme free or very low cost, with bursary places always available,
  • Fulfil access needs such as BSL interpretation or materials in a particular format,
  • Pay writers, artists and facilitators a fare wage to deliver engaging and useful events,
  • Commission writers from underrepresented backgrounds to create work, and to distribute that work in printed anthologies and via live performances.

We need your help

We need your help to continue to provide accessible opportunities to write, read and tell stories to our neighbours in Lewisham, people across London, and nationally from Black, Asian or Global Majority, working class, low income, LGBTQI+, and/or d/Deaf and Disabled communities. In short, the communities that are otherwise left out of the often-exclusive world of literature.

If you can, please consider making a donation. We promise to make your money work hard.
